![Organic cotton bedding from official home storefronts](/blog/covers/boll-and-branch-vs-coyuchi.webp)

Boll & Branch vs Coyuchi is a weave decision inside organic cotton, not a hunt for the best sheet. [Boll & Branch](/s/boll-and-branch) leads with Signature sateen: long-staple organic cotton, a smooth hand with a slight sheen, deep pockets, and an all-season claim on [bollandbranch.com](https://www.bollandbranch.com). [Coyuchi](/s/coyuchi) leads with a fabric menu — crisp percale for hot sleepers, sateen if you want smoother, plus linen and flannel — and says the percale is GOTS-certified organic cotton on [coyuchi.com](https://www.coyuchi.com). Choose Boll & Branch when you want one buttery organic sateen and a simple 30-day washed return. Choose Coyuchi when you want the cooler, crisper weave, or a non-cotton texture, and you can live with a US-only shipping map. StoreAtlas files both as stores on the [home hub](/c/home) and the [bedding](/t/bedding) tag. This note is not a Best of sheets list.

Organic bedding already has a live pair in [Brooklinen vs Parachute](/blog/brooklinen-vs-parachute) and a wider map in [Brooklinen alternatives](/blog/brooklinen-vs-alternatives-shopify-bedding). This note stays on the two organic storefronts. The category context is in [home storefront notes](/blog/home-shopify-storefront-notes). Both rooms sit on the [bedding you can compare](/jobs/bedding-you-can-compare) job page with Brooklinen and neighbors already in the directory. Those are other files, not a ranking. The same files also live in the [store directory](/) and on the [jobs index](/jobs).

## Who each storefront fits

Boll & Branch fits the shopper who wants everyday organic sateen without building a textile degree. The Signature fitted sheet page is written as an all-season staple: smooth, buttery, breathable, slight sheen, long-staple 100% organic cotton, grown on a family farm in India, made in India, GOTS certified, OEKO-TEX Standard 100. The fitted sheet’s pocket is listed at 17 inches with elastic meant to stay put. The hemmed sheet set is the same story at a set price. The brand also sells percale — including a “coldest percale” callout in site merchandising — but the page most shoppers land on is sateen. If you already know you want drape and a soft sheen, you do not have to browse four weaves.

Coyuchi fits the shopper who wants the weave to do a temperature job. The sheet-set FAQ is unusually direct. Percale: crisp, breathable, for hot sleepers. Sateen: smoother and silkier. French linen: heavier, temperature-regulating, for couples who sleep differently. Flannel: brushed and warm. The refined organic percale set is described as GOTS-certified 100% organic cotton, tightly woven, tenting away from the skin the way a crisp shirt does, formerly sold as a 300-thread-count percale, with a 15-inch pocket on the size chart and a plant-based softener. If you have slept hot in sateen, Coyuchi’s percale collection is the page that admits the difference instead of calling every organic sheet “breathable.”

Both are organic-cotton houses with India in the production story. The split is hand-feel and temperature, then the return and the map.

## What to read on the materials line

Sateen and percale are weaves, not quality grades. Sateen floats more cotton on the surface, so it feels smoother and looks slightly lustrous. Percale is a plain weave, so it feels drier and crisper and lets air move. A high thread count does not turn one into the other. Coyuchi even dropped the thread-count number from the percale name and kept the weave. That is the right emphasis.

Boll & Branch prints GOTS and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 on the Signature fitted sheet, next to long-staple organic cotton and the India line, and says the weave gets softer with washing. Judge that after a few washes. Do not call a new Coyuchi percale a failure because it is still crisp. Crisp is the product. Coyuchi’s careful sentence is “GOTS certified where noted.” The refined percale page does say GOTS. Linen and flannel are different sleeps, not fallback cotton.

Pocket depth is the other materials-adjacent spec. Boll & Branch Signature prints 17 inches. Coyuchi’s refined percale size chart prints 15 inches. A thick mattress plus a topper can spit out a 15-inch sheet. Measure the mattress before you fall in love with the weave. [Returns before you buy](/blog/returns-before-you-buy-dtc) matters more when the pocket is wrong, because you will know on night one, not after a month.

## Shipping maps are not the same

Boll & Branch’s shipping and return policy offers complimentary US ground shipping on orders of $100 and up (a banner has also advertised broader free shipping during promotions; the policy page is the $100 line). Mattresses and furniture have their own white-glove rules. The policy is written for US delivery. International purchases have been excluded from returns on at least one version of the policy. If you are outside the US, do not assume the free-shipping banner or the 30-day trial applies. Ask before you pay.

Coyuchi ships to the 48 states, Hawaii, Alaska, and military addresses, from Kentucky. Ground has been a flat rate around $10, free at a high threshold around $300. PO boxes and military mail take longer. If you need sheets outside the US, this policy says it is the wrong storefront until a newer page expands the map. A shopper abroad should confirm Boll & Branch will both ship and accept the return. [Home storefront notes](/blog/home-shopify-storefront-notes) put that address check next to fabric.

## Returns: washed is allowed, the clock is not identical

Boll & Branch’s customer-facing policy says that for products other than mattresses and pet beds, you can return within 30 days of delivery for a refund to the original payment, and that you may return an item even if it has been washed or worn. A help page says there is no restocking fee inside 30 days. Exchanges are not the path; you return and repurchase. Mattresses are a different clock (a wait, then a longer trial) and are not this article.

The terms of service have also described a longer window, up to 100 days, with stricter condition language than the friendlier policy page. Read both before you rely on day 60. Gift cards are not returnable, and published text has refused international returns.

Coyuchi allows a full merchandise refund within 30 days even if washed or worn, then store credit minus a $15 restocking fee out to 180 days. Final sale, discounts of 50% or more, made-to-order, and secondhand “2nd Home” purchases are excluded. Refunds are described as about 10 business days after the warehouse receives the box. Mattresses use a different trial and are not this compare.

Boll & Branch is a month of real sleep on sateen, if that week’s policy still says so. Coyuchi is the same month for cash, then a longer credit runway, on a US address, unless the sheet was deeply discounted. On the PDP, match weave, the GOTS line, pocket depth, and the ship-to list.

## Questions

### Boll & Branch vs Coyuchi sheets

Signature Boll & Branch sheets are the organic sateen everyday set: long-staple cotton, GOTS and OEKO-TEX on the fitted-sheet page, 17-inch pockets, all-season, softer with washing if the brand’s claim holds for you. Coyuchi’s closest “cooler” answer is the organic percale, crisp and breathable, GOTS on the refined set, 15-inch pockets, with sateen available if you decide you wanted drape after all. If you have never liked hotel-crisp sheets, do not start with Coyuchi percale just because it is organic. If you have always overheated in sateen, do not start with Signature just because the hand-feel description is prettier.

### Is Boll & Branch better than Coyuchi for organic cotton?

Both storefronts sell GOTS-certified organic cotton where the page says so. Boll & Branch is the more single-minded sateen pitch. Coyuchi is the broader organic mill: percale, sateen, linen, flannel. “Better for organic cotton” is not a ranking. It is whether you want sateen’s smooth face or percale’s cooler plain weave, and whether your address is one Coyuchi will ship to. Read the certification on the color and size you are buying. A sale callout does not repeat the GOTS sentence for you.

### Is Coyuchi an alternative to Boll & Branch bedding?

Yes, for a cooler GOTS texture, linen, or a longer credit window, if you are in the US including Hawaii, Alaska, or a military address. No, if you want the 17-inch sateen pocket or you live outside Coyuchi’s map. Read [Brooklinen vs Parachute](/blog/brooklinen-vs-parachute) so this pair stays separate from that one. The policy URL on your order date is the version that binds.
