![Everyday jewelry layers from official jewelry storefronts](/blog/covers/gorjana-vs-missoma.webp)

Gorjana vs Missoma is a metal-thickness decision that shows up as a price and a care rule. [Gorjana](/s/gorjana) sells everyday California layering in 18k gold plate on brass, 18k gold vermeil on sterling silver, and 14k or 18k solid gold; a Parker XL Evil Eye necklace on [gorjana.com](https://www.gorjana.com) is 18k gold plate over brass at $185, while a 14k Micro Mini Venice herringbone lists at $860. [Missoma](/s/missoma) sells London layering built mostly in 18ct gold vermeil, a 2.5-micron gold layer over recycled sterling silver; the metals page on [missoma.com](https://www.missoma.com) stamps that vermeil 925 and pairs it with a two-year warranty. Choose Gorjana when you want solid gold in the same cart as a plated everyday chain, and a 30-day free U.S. return. Choose Missoma when you want the thicker vermeil standard, recycled-metal copy on the core line, and a return window the product page prints at 60 days. StoreAtlas files both as stores on the [jewelry hub](/c/jewelry) and the [everyday-jewelry](/t/everyday-jewelry) tag. This note is not a Best of ranking.

[Ana Luisa vs Gorjana](/blog/ana-luisa-vs-gorjana), [Missoma vs Mejuri](/blog/missoma-vs-mejuri), and [Mejuri vs Catbird](/blog/mejuri-vs-catbird) are the neighboring jewelry comparisons. [How to read a product page](/blog/how-to-read-a-shopify-product-page) is how you catch “plated” and “vermeil” before they look like the same gold in a photo.

Both rooms sit on the [everyday jewelry stack](/jobs/everyday-jewelry-stack) job page with Mejuri and neighbors already in the directory. Those are other files, not a ranking. The same files also live in the [store directory](/) and on the [jobs index](/jobs).

## Who each storefront fits

Gorjana fits the buyer building a daily stack from a Newport Beach line that runs from fashion plate to solid gold. The FAQ splits the materials in plain language. Gold plated is 18k gold on brass, with an anti-tarnish barrier, described as a thin layer. Gold vermeil is 18k gold over sterling silver, described as a thick layer on a stronger base. Sterling silver is the cool-toned metal. Rhodium plate is the bright silver-colored finish on brass. Fine jewelry is 14k and 18k solid gold, which the care guide says will not oxidize the way plate can. A single cart can hold all of these. The photo will not tell you which one you clicked.

Lengths and closures are on the PDP. The Bespoke Wilder Heart is a 17-inch curb chain with a heart about 1/2 by 7/16 inch, spring-ring closure, engraving on an 18k gold-vermeil component, and the rest of the hardware in 18k gold-plated brass, listed from $95. The Parker XL Evil Eye is a statement chain plus a coin charm, green cubic zirconia, 18k plate on brass, $185, with the page noting that measurements are approximate. The 14k Micro Mini Venice is solid 14k, a mini herringbone meant to sit alone or in a stack, listed at $860. Solid gold and plate at those two prices are doing different jobs. The $185 necklace is a fashion piece with a care rule. The $860 necklace is the one the care guide says you can wash with mild soap.

Missoma fits the buyer who wants a matched layer in one metal system. The metals guide defines 18ct gold vermeil as sterling silver electroplated with 2.5 microns of gold, which is the thickness the brand says the category requires. UK pieces are stamped 925. The gold and silver in the core line are described as 100% certified recycled, with sterling chain-of-custody language tied to the Responsible Jewellery Council on the brand’s materials story. Solid 14ct gold exists as a step up. Gold plate on a base metal is the thinner, less expensive finish, and Missoma’s own explainer says that plate is typically under 1 micron, while vermeil starts at 2.5. The brand tells you the difference because the names get used loosely everywhere else.

A Lucy Williams necklace set on the site shows how the specs read: 18ct recycled gold-plated vermeil on sterling silver, a snake chain 45 cm long and adjustable from 41 to 45 cm, 1.5 mm wide, and a mother-of-pearl pendant at 8 × 8 mm. Weights are printed in grams on that set. The Savi mixed-metal stacking rings combine 18ct gold vermeil and sterling silver and are sold as a sized set, with a size guide on the page. Hoops such as the Magma gemstone pair are vermeil plus a stone, and the page prints both a two-year warranty and a return window. Pieces are handcrafted in India, Thailand, and China, which the product copy states as the production footprint.

Gorjana’s 17-inch chains and Missoma’s 41–45 cm chains (about 16 to 18 inches) are the everyday collar lengths. Buy the inch or centimeter on the page, because a styled photo hides the drop.

## Plate, vermeil, and solid gold

Gorjana’s care guide draws a hard line. The FAQ on nickel says the 18k gold, rose gold, or silver plating itself is nickel free, and that the brand does not call the jewelry nickel free because the base metal can carry traces of nickel. That sentence matters for a brass-based plate. It is a different sentence from “hypoallergenic.”

Gorjana’s FAQ allows exceptions for personalized items. The Wilder Heart page says engraving is online only and may not match the preview. Confirm that exception before you count on the 30 days.

Missoma’s care advice for vermeil and silver is storage: keep pieces in the pouch, separate, in a dark, cool, dry place, so chains do not scratch each other. The vermeil explainer says you can clean gold the way you clean vermeil and silver, without scrubbing hard enough to thin the plate. A 2.5-micron layer is thicker than fashion plate and still a layer. Solid 14ct is the Missoma piece you buy when you do not want a layer to maintain. The metals page is where that ladder is written down.

A gold-plated brass necklace and a solid-gold necklace are different objects. Read the spec block on the product page.

## Returns, shipping, and the two-year warranty

Gorjana accepts unworn returns within 30 days, free, through a portal that asks for an order number starting with GOR. Free standard shipping applies over $150 in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Expedited shipping is $5. Store pickup is offered where stock exists. The Happiness Guarantee page is customer care at customercare@gorjana.com. It does not print a second, longer return window. A wrong length on day six is the 30-day return. A tarnished plate at month six is a care email.

Missoma’s product pages print a two-year warranty, and the metals FAQ says that warranty covers the jewelry. Return copy on the pages read here is mostly 60 days, with mainland UK returns free. UK standard delivery is £3.95, or free over £100, in 2–3 working days. A hoop page has also shown 90 days, so use the number on the product you buy. Duties and the return cost from outside the UK belong on the shipping page before a U.S. order.

Gorjana’s prices here are U.S. dollars. Missoma’s public prices are in pounds. Compare the micron and the base metal, then the checkout currency.

[Missoma vs Mejuri](/blog/missoma-vs-mejuri) and [Ana Luisa vs Gorjana](/blog/ana-luisa-vs-gorjana) are the neighboring reads. Measure the chain, name the metal from the spec block, and match the return window to the country you ship from.

## Questions
### Gorjana gold plate vs Missoma gold vermeil

Gorjana’s fashion plate is 18k gold over brass, with an anti-tarnish coat, Missoma’s vermeil is 2.5 microns of 18ct gold over sterling silver, stamped 925 in the UK, on recycled metal in the core line. Vermeil is the thicker plated standard. Solid 14k or 18k, sold by both brands in smaller edits, is the piece without a plating layer to wear through. A $185 Gorjana plate necklace and a Missoma vermeil chain at a similar everyday price are not the same construction.

### How long are returns, and what about engraving?

Gorjana: unworn items within 30 days, free returns, free U.S. shipping over $150, with possible exceptions for personalized pieces. Missoma: the common PDP line is 60 days, mainland UK returns free, plus a two-year warranty; at least one hoop template has shown 90 days, so use the number on that product. Engraved Gorjana pieces need the personalization exception checked before checkout. A worn chain is outside both return policies and inside whatever warranty the PDP actually states.

### Can you shower in either brand’s everyday necklace?

Check Gorjana's care guide for the metal you're buying. Missoma’s vermeil is a 2.5-micron layer over silver, so read the care notes on missoma.com for that SKU. A solid-gold listing and a plated listing can share a silhouette and still be different objects. [How to read the product page](/blog/how-to-read-a-shopify-product-page) is the check that separates those two listings when the photos match.
