How to read the StoreAtlas [/deals](/deals) shelf during the Black Friday window is a reading habit, not a list of codes and not a promise about what any brand will charge. A row is a timestamped reading taken from a brand site. The price you pay is the price the brand shows at its own checkout, on the product you open, for the ship-to country you use. This note teaches what a row is for, how a sitewide line differs from a host-specific or cart-gated line, and which pages to open before you pay. It does not publish a 2026 percent-off calendar, and it does not name a winner.

The shelf can show a reading, a relative check time, a percent-style label when the brand page was showing one, a “lower than last check” mark, or a “30-day low” mark. Category browse and load-more move you through the shelf. A community tip sits in an editorial queue. None of that is the cart. Ads or an affiliate relationship, when present, are disclosed next to the link. Open the brand product page anyway.

## What a row is, and what it is not

Treat every row as a note with a clock on it. A check opened a brand page and recorded what that page was showing. The useful parts are the brand, the product or the offer shape, the price reading, the relative check time, and any label that compares this reading with an earlier one. A percent-style label describes a gap the brand page was showing between a current figure and a compare-at or list figure. It is not a coupon StoreAtlas invented, and it is not a rate you can assume still applies to another color, size, or country site.

A row is not a reservation. It does not hold inventory, freeze shipping, extend a return window, or prove a code will work. If the relative check time looks old for how fast that brand edits banners, assume the page may have moved. This note does not set a number of hours after which a row expires.

Presence on [/deals](/deals) means a reading was stored. Absence means you should look up the brand another way, not that the brand is quiet for the season.

## How to read the shelf before you click

Use one pass so the Black Friday window does not turn the shelf into a blur.

1. Read the relative check time first. A fresh reading is still only a reading. A stale one is a reason to open the brand page now, not a reason to skip the brand.
2. Read the price as a figure captured from the brand site, not as the amount your card will be charged. Currency, member pricing, and a later code can move the total.
3. If you see a percent-style label, ask which two numbers produced it. If the row hides one of them, the brand page must show both. Do not carry the percent onto a second product.
4. If you see “lower than last check,” that compares this reading with the previous reading StoreAtlas stored. It does not mean the price is the lowest the brand has ever used, and it does not mean the price will hold.
5. If you see “30-day low,” read it as a comparison inside that stated window of earlier checks, not as a life-of-product claim and not as a Black Friday promise. If the label is missing, do not invent the comparison.
6. Use category browse when you know the kind of product. Use load-more when you are still scanning. Neither control is a ranking.
7. Treat a community tip or a shared price as a lead. Editorial review can catch a broken link. It cannot confirm tax, shipping, or a gift card inside the brand checkout.
8. When a disclosure sits next to the link, read it, then continue to the brand. The next page is the brand’s.

## Sitewide, host-specific, SKU, and cart-gated

Shoppers collapse four different offer shapes into the word “sale.” Separate them on the brand page, because a row can only hint.

A sitewide line is copy the brand applies across the catalog, or says it does. A banner that says “everything” can still exclude a collection, a collaboration, or a final-sale set. Open one product and see whether the banner matches the tile and the cart.

A host-specific line belongs to one country site or one domain. A US banner is not automatically the banner on a UK, EU, or other regional storefront. Do not translate a percent from one host to another.

A SKU or collection line attaches to particular products. A second size or color can sit outside the offer. Check the variant you will ship.

A cart-gated line depends on a threshold, a bundle, a code, or a signed-in state. The tile can look unmarked until the cart qualifies. A code box that rejects the code is the answer. Do not reuse a code from a screenshot or last year’s order email.

If the brand page does not say the offer is sitewide, do not call it sitewide in your own notes.

## What to confirm on the brand page

Open the product on the brand storefront. Then run this list in one sitting.

Price versus list. Find the current price and any compare-at figure on that same page. If only one figure shows, you have a price, not a discount story. Do not supply a missing compare-at from memory.

Variant. Size, color, material, and bundle change price and eligibility. Re-read the offer after you select the variant.

Shipping destination. Open the shipping note with your country. A brand can sell an item and still refuse your ship-to. [Does this store ship to your country](/blog/verify-store-ships-to-your-country) is the habit. The brand’s shipping page is the answer. This note does not invent transit times.

Returns. Open the returns note on the same host before you pay. Look for the clock trigger, exclusions, fees, and any holiday paragraph. If the page prints a date, copy it. If it does not, leave the date blank. [Returns before you buy on a DTC store](/blog/returns-before-you-buy-dtc) and [reading shipping and returns on Shopify stores](/blog/reading-shipping-and-returns-on-shopify-stores) walk the same habit. The [returns and ship-to guides](/topics/returns-ship-to-guides) sit beside country coverage. None of them replaces the brand page.

Final-sale and gift-card lines. A seasonal collection is a common place for a final-sale mark. A gift card often follows a different rule than a physical good.

Checkout total. Tax, shipping, duties, and a rejected code appear at the brand checkout. The row cannot see that total. Wait until the total is on the screen.

Country and domain. Check that the host in the address bar is the brand you meant. [Brand storefront versus lookalike](/blog/official-storefront-vs-lookalike) is the method. A familiar logo on an unfamiliar host is a reason to stop.

You can also paste a domain into [the storefront check](/check) when you want a directory read on the host. The check is a pointer. The brand page is still the place you pay.

## A Black Friday reading habit

The seasonal window is the stretch when you are deciding whether to buy, wait, or skip. It is not a reconstructed calendar of earlier Novembers, and it is not a schedule of future banners. A row captured on one day can be wrong the next morning.

Write six fields for any row you might act on.

| Field | What you copy | What you leave blank |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Check time | The relative time the shelf shows | A guess that “it was today” |
| Price reading | The figure on the row, then the figure on the brand page | A percent you computed yourself from two different days |
| Offer shape | Sitewide, host-specific, SKU, or cart-gated, in the brand’s words | The word “sale” with no shape |
| Ship-to | Whether your country is accepted on that host | Another country’s shipping page |
| Returns | Trigger, exclusions, fees, and any printed holiday date | A day count from a different brand |
| Checkout | The total on the brand checkout, once visible | The row price as if it were the total |

If a field you need is blank, the decision is “not yet.” [How to read a Shopify product page](/blog/how-to-read-a-shopify-product-page) helps when the tile is dense. [How to evaluate a Shopify store](/blog/how-to-evaluate-a-shopify-store) helps when you are still deciding whether to pay that storefront at all. [Black Friday 2026 store checks for LatAm](/blog/black-friday-2026-latam-store-verify) is the regional method. It does not set a discount for a US or EU host.

## What the shelf cannot decide for you

[/deals](/deals) can point you at a brand page that was read. It cannot tell you the item fits, that a return will be accepted, or that last year’s banner is live. It does not rank brands. Run the brand-page pass once per brand. Do not average prices or copy one brand’s shipping line onto another.

A tip that names a code is a claim until the cart accepts it. If the cart rejects it, stop. Member and guest prices diverge, so read the state you will use. After you switch country, re-read duties and returns.

## A short pass on the day you pay

1. Shelf row read, including check time and any compare label, on [/deals](/deals).
2. Brand product page open on the host you will pay.
3. Offer shape named in the brand’s words, or marked “not stated.”
4. Shipping and returns opened for your ship-to. Holiday dates copied only if printed.
5. Checkout total visible before you confirm payment.
6. Domain matches the brand you meant. If it does not, stop and use [the lookalike method](/blog/official-storefront-vs-lookalike).

Then buy, wait, or leave. A row does not oblige you to check out.

When you want the shelf, open [deals](/deals). When the missing piece is the return clock, use [returns before you buy](/blog/returns-before-you-buy-dtc) and the [returns and ship-to guides](/topics/returns-ship-to-guides). When the missing piece is ship-to, use [the ship-to method](/blog/verify-store-ships-to-your-country). The brand checkout is the only place the order exists.
