![Foam and hybrid mattresses from official home storefronts](/blog/covers/tuft-and-needle-vs-casper.webp)

Tuft & Needle vs Casper is a mattress-in-a-box decision with a shared headline and different fine print. [Tuft & Needle](/s/tuft-and-needle) sells adaptive-foam and hybrid mattresses with a 100-night trial and a 10-year limited warranty on [tuftandneedle.com](https://www.tuftandneedle.com). [Casper](/s/casper) sells zoned hybrid and foam mattresses with a 100-night trial that locks the first 30 nights, plus a 10-year limited warranty, on [casper.com](https://casper.com). Choose Tuft & Needle when you want a responsive foam feel and a trial you can exit without a mandatory adjustment month. Choose Casper when you want a zoned hybrid, you can sleep on it for 30 nights before a return is even accepted, and you are choosing between an “on the bed” feel and an “in the bed” feel. StoreAtlas files both as stores on the [home hub](/c/home) and the [bedding](/t/bedding) tag. This note is not a Best of ranking.

[Casper vs Leesa](/blog/casper-vs-leesa) is the other Casper comparison if a third foam brand is still in the cart. The category context is [home storefront notes](/blog/home-shopify-storefront-notes). The policy habits that matter here are [returns before you buy](/blog/returns-before-you-buy-dtc) and [how shipping and returns are written](/blog/reading-shipping-and-returns-on-shopify-stores). A 100-night promise is only useful if you know when the clock starts and what the brand will pick up.

There is no shopping-job page for this mattress pair yet — other shopping tasks already filed live on the [jobs index](/jobs). Casper also sits on the [bedding you can compare](/jobs/bedding-you-can-compare) job as a neighboring home file. Both brands also live as files in the [store directory](/).

## Who each mattress line fits

Tuft & Needle fits sleepers who want pressure relief without a slow memory-foam hug. The brand’s material is T&N Adaptive foam, which the site describes as a proprietary poly-foam: more responsive than memory foam, with a similar pressure-relief claim, so you get contour without feeling stuck. The Original Mattress product page lists the feel as firm, support from base foam, pressure relief from T&N Adaptive foam, and cooling from graphite and gel-infused Adaptive foam plus a cooling cover. It is aimed at back and stomach sleepers. The page gives a 100-night sleep trial, free returns and shipping, and a 10-year limited warranty for manufacturing and workmanship defects. Shipping is free in the box to the door except Hawaii and Alaska, where fees apply. Most orders ship within 4 days and arrive within 2 weeks. California residents can select free old-mattress removal at checkout.

The current lineup is wider than the original all-foam bed. Tuft & Needle’s own product guidance describes the Essential Hybrid as the entry hybrid: 10 inches tall, medium-firm, support foam, individually wrapped coils, and Adaptive foam, with a claim of 25% better airflow than memory foam. The Original II is described as 12 inches and firm. The Original Hybrid II is 12.5 inches, medium, Adaptive foam over pocketed springs for motion isolation. The Mint II is 13.5 inches, medium-firm, all-foam, with an extra inch of support foam versus the Original. The Mint Hybrid II is 13.5 inches and medium-firm. Older compare copy on the site has listed shorter heights for earlier Mint and Original builds. Buy the height on the PDP, and treat “II” as a real generation change.

Size notes list Twin 39 × 75 inches, Twin XL 39 × 80, Full 54 × 75, Queen 60 × 80, King 76 × 80, and California King 72 × 84. A 2024 Mint Hybrid queen page lists 79.5 × 60 × 14 inches and 125 pounds shipping weight, which is that build, not every queen. A box spring is not required if the base you have is sound.

Casper fits sleepers who want zoned support and are willing to wait out an adjustment period. Casper’s FAQ describes a Zoned Support system for spinal alignment and splits the feel in plain language: the Dream is the “on the bed” feel, and the Snow is the “in the bed” feel. Dream Max and Snow Max are the deeper versions, and the FAQ says they carry an American Chiropractic Association endorsement. A Casper article comparing the hybrids lists profile heights and queen weights: Dream at 12 inches and 99 pounds in queen, Snow at 12 inches and 81 pounds in queen, Dream Max at 13.5 inches and 102 pounds in queen, Snow Max at 14 inches and 111 pounds in queen. Dream is described there as medium, responsive, and breathable, with ergonomic zones. Snow is an ergonomic hybrid with a body-conforming medium feel and a memory-foam character. The FAQ says foam and hybrid mattresses can be slept on almost immediately and may take up to 48 hours to expand fully. Snow mattresses, primarily memory foam, can take up to 72 hours.

For slatted frames, Casper’s FAQ wants flat wooden slats no more than 4 inches apart. Sag coverage assumes that support.

## Trial clocks and what a return actually requires

Both brands print “100 nights.” The rules underneath are not copies.

Tuft & Needle’s Original page says every product in that framing comes with a 100-night sleep trial and a hassle-free return. You contact support@tuftandneedle.com or call (877) 842-2586. The warranty page adds the legal boundary: the 100-night trial and the limited warranties apply to original purchasers of genuine products bought for ordinary household use from an authorized channel, and the trial may apply only to people who bought directly from Tuft & Needle. The warranty page names the brand site and authorized retailers. If the mattress came from a retailer, confirm whether the trial is the brand’s or the store’s before you assume Tuft & Needle will schedule the pickup. Toppers, foam pillows, and protectors can sit on a shorter trial than the mattress. The Original mattress page itself says 100 nights.

Casper’s 100 nights start at delivery. Returns are refused during a required 30-night adjustment period, then accepted through night 100. The courier packs and removes the mattress. You do not recompress it. The return has to be in the United States, not US territories. Clearance, final sale, and a bundle piece sent back without the rest of the bundle are exceptions. Dream and Snow bundles are listed at 100 nights. Soft goods that are not inside the mattress trial are a 30-day unused return. A protector is recommended and is not required for the trial.

Tuft & Needle’s mattress page lets the 100 nights run as the decision window. Casper will not take the mattress back during the required first 30 nights. Do not judge a Snow in the first hours out of the box if the 72-hour expansion note applies.

## Warranties, sag, and the foam itself

Tuft & Needle’s 10-year limited warranty covers Original, Mint, and Hybrid mattresses for the original owner in ordinary household use. Examples include an edge more than 1 inch out of spec and foam that splits or cracks. Adaptive foam pillows are on a 3-year limited warranty. Casper’s mattresses are 10 years, and clearance mattresses are 5. Covered examples include splitting foam, a cover zipper that fails, and sag of more than 1 inch on a supportive base. The warranty is the defect path. The trial is the “wrong feel” path. Claims need proof. An unsupportive base is the exclusion.

Queen shipping weight is a stairs problem: 125 pounds on that Mint Hybrid dimension page, and 81 to 111 pounds for Casper’s Snow through Snow Max queens in the comparison article. California residents can select old-mattress removal at Tuft & Needle checkout. Confirm the generation on the PDP. An “Original” may be the 12-inch firm Original II. A “Snow” may be the 12-inch hybrid or the 14-inch Snow Max. Casper’s clock starts at delivery. The sag warranty assumes a supportive base.

## Questions

### Do Tuft & Needle and Casper have the same 100-night trial?

Both print 100 nights. Tuft & Needle’s Original page does not describe a blocked first month. Casper starts the 100 nights at delivery and refuses returns during a required 30-night adjustment, then schedules a pickup. Retailer orders follow the receipt, not an assumption that the brand will collect the bed.

### Which mattress is the firmer one?

Tuft & Needle’s Original page says firm, for back and stomach sleepers. Current guidance calls Original II 12 inches and firm, and Mint II 13.5 inches and medium-firm. Casper’s Dream is the 12-inch “on the bed” hybrid. Snow is the 12-inch memory-foam hybrid. Dream Max is 13.5 inches and Snow Max is 14. Firmness words are each brand’s own scale.

### What does the 10-year warranty cover?

Both warranties are defect warranties for the original owner in household use. Tuft & Needle’s page covers Original, Mint, and Hybrid mattresses for 10 years and gives examples: an edge more than 1 inch out of spec, and foam that splits or cracks under normal use. Casper’s pages cover mattresses for 10 years, clearance for 5, and describe sag greater than 1 inch on a proper base, splitting foam, and a failed cover zipper. Comfort preference is the trial, not the warranty. [Home storefront notes](/blog/home-shopify-storefront-notes) and [Casper vs Leesa](/blog/casper-vs-leesa) are the next reads if the feel question is still open after you have the trial rules.
