Gymshark vs Alphalete is a full lifting-kit decision set against a seamless drop decision. Gymshark on gymshark.com sells named training lines you can rebuild every season: Arrival shorts, Crest and Power pieces, Vital seamless leggings. Alphalete on alphaleteathletics.com sells athlete-cut seamless shorts and sets in dye-lot colors, with Amplify and Revive as the compression shelf. Choose Gymshark when you want a polyester training short, a seamless legging, and a 30-day US return that the help center lists as free. Choose Alphalete when you want a 4.5-inch or 5-inch scrunch short in a specific compression, and you will read the final-sale flag and the dye note before checkout. StoreAtlas files both as stores on the fitness hub and the training tag. This note is not a Best of ranking.
There is no shopping-job page for this pair yet — other shopping tasks already filed live on the jobs index. Both brands also live as files in the store directory.
Alo Yoga vs Gymshark is the live compare if the other cart is studio apparel. This note stays on Gymshark’s lifting catalog against Alphalete’s drops. Read it next to fitness storefront notes, size charts before you buy, and returns before you buy. The return fee is the part that changes the order.
What you are actually buying
Gymshark’s US Arrival 7-inch Short in black is the plain lifting short. The PDP says it is for lifting, running, and HIIT, slim fit, lightweight and sweat-wicking, with an adjustable drawcord and open side pockets. Size and fit: 7-inch inseam based on size M. The model is 5 feet 10 inches and wears M. Materials: 100% polyester. The same page’s size payload runs from XS through 3XL on that SKU. Related Arrival shorts on the site also come in a 5-inch inseam, still called slim, still 100% polyester on the copies pulled beside that product. Vital is the seamless set, not the polyester short. Vital Seamless Tall Leggings in black marl are high-waisted, for lifting, HIIT, running, and Pilates, with a ribbed waistband, sweat-wicking, breathable mesh dots, and a seamless knit. Size and fit on that page: 28-inch inseam based on size M. The model is 5 feet 9 inches and wears S. Materials: 93% nylon, 7% elastane. Gymshark’s own Vital note says the cloth is medium compression, that it feels snug at first, and that darker shades can feel tighter and less stretchy than lighter ones. If you are between sizes, or you want less compression, that note says sizing up can fit better.
Alphalete’s women’s shelf is rise, inseam, and scrunch, not a single “legging.” The Amplify Ultra-High Rise Short in heather grey lists at $48. Highlights: 4.5-inch inseam, ultra-high rise, 3-tier waistband, glute scrunch. The fit note says compressive. Maddie is 5 feet 4 inches, wearing S, with a 27.5-inch waist and 37-inch hips. Fiber: 51% polyamide, 38% polyester, 11% elastane. Wash inside out, cold, with like colors, and hang dry. The copy calls the hand-feel silky, the knit a dense interlock, and the rib panels physique-enhancing. Revive High Rise Short lists at $50: 5-inch inseam, high rise, hidden butt lift, same 51/38/11 fiber, and a true-to-size suggestion. Tiara is 5 feet 3 inches, wearing XS, with a 25-inch waist and 40-inch hips. A Contour size chart on a mid-rise short page runs 2XS through 2XL in two-inch waist and hip bands: 2XS is 23–24 inch waist and 33–34 inch hips; 2XL is 35–36 and 45–46. That Contour page says the fit is high compression and tells you to size up if you want it looser. Men’s Flex Short is a different garment: a 5-inch shell with a 6-inch compression liner, bonded hem, side vents, 83% nylon and 17% spandex, four-way stretch, quick dry. The fit note says slim. Sizes run XS through XXXL. Gerrie is 6 feet 5 inches, wearing L, with a 35.5-inch waist. The collection listed the Flex Short at $52. Markdown colorways exist, so read the price on the color.
Gymshark is the kit: a 100% polyester Arrival short plus a nylon-elastane Vital legging, in letter sizes that the Vital guide treats as compression-sensitive. Alphalete is the drop: a polyamide-polyester-elastane short whose inseam is 4.5 or 5 inches and whose color can change the stretch. The FAQ on Alphalete says dyes may alter fit, and that the same style can vary slightly between colors. Sheerness is not treated as a defect.
Size systems and what “true to size” skips
Gymshark letter sizes are not one fit. Arrival is labeled slim. Vital Seamless is high-waisted and compressive enough that the brand’s own article tells between-size shoppers to consider going up, especially in dark colors and in Vital Soft. The Arrival 7-inch inseam is stated on size M, not on XS and not on 3XL. A taller inseam is a different product: the Tall legging above is 28 inches at M. Read the inseam line on the PDP you add. A US exchange is another size of the same item, and it does not ship until the return is scanned.
Alphalete splits women’s compression in the fit suggestion, not in a single chart. Amplify and Contour pages say high compression and point you up a size for a looser fit. Revive’s cashmere colorway says stay true to size. Everyday Core copy on a Tenacity biker, where it is medium compression, says true to size and size up only if you are between sizes. Women’s letter sizes on these shorts run XXS–XXL. Men’s Flex runs XS–XXXL. An even exchange is the same item and the same color in another size. A new color is a new order, which matters because the dye note says color can change compression. Use size charts before you buy on the measurements, then use the model’s waist and hip on that PDP, not a size you wore in the other brand.
Shipping geography and who pays the label
On the US Gymshark delivery page, standard shipping is $5, estimated at 4–7 working days, and free over $75. Express is $15, about 3 working days. Outside the mainland, allow up to 14 working days. APO, FPO, and DPO can take up to 60 days. Returns are 30 days from delivery for gymshark.com or app orders, in original condition. Underwear and swim cannot be returned. Socks can if sealed. Bottles and personalized items cannot. In the US and Canada, a final discount of 60% or more is final sale when the page says so. The swing tag can come off. A cut-out care label kills the return. Items must be unworn, unused, and unwashed. The help center lists the United States among countries with free returns, back to the original payment. A US Happy Returns bar refunds at drop-off. Pop-up purchases are not returnable. Online orders return in the purchase country. The terms page describes the same 30-day goodwill window. Read the flag on a deep-sale SKU before you assume the free-return list covers it.
Alphalete’s US site banner is free domestic shipping over $120 and 30-day returns. The FAQ starts the clock at delivery: you have 30 days from delivery to create the return or exchange. A return that arrives 45 days or more after delivery can be denied. Final-sale items are ineligible unless the warranty covers a defect. For store credit or an even exchange, Alphalete covers return shipping. For a refund, Alphalete does not cover return shipping unless you bought the optional Redo “Free Returns + Protection” add-on at checkout. Otherwise the label cost is deducted from the refund, or you self-ship. International orders on the US site do not get exchanges or a prepaid label. Original shipping and package protection are not refunded when you return the whole order. Condition rules are strict: unwashed, not dried, hang tag and size label attached, no strong odor, no deodorant marks, no pet hair, and pilling can be denied. Swim can return only with the liner still attached. Water bottles, face masks, underwear, bodysuits, and socks cannot be returned. The US return address printed for the US site is Jeffersonville, Indiana. The 90-day warranty starts at delivery and covers defects the brand accepts: holes, rips, logo or label faults, manufacturing errors, missing features. It still covers final-sale and discounted items bought from Alphalete. It does not treat sheerness as a defect, and skipping the care guide can void it. Processing after the warehouse has the package is listed as 7–10 business days. The US site ships the 50 states, US territories, APO/FPO, and a short international list that includes Australia, Canada, Mexico, and several others. Confirm the country selector. It is a different checkout from a regional Gymshark store.
Questions
- Arrival shorts vs Amplify shorts
- Arrival 7-inch is Gymshark’s slim 100% polyester short, 7-inch inseam at size M, with a 5-inch sibling. Amplify Ultra-High Rise is Alphalete’s 4.5-inch compressive short, 51% polyamide, 38% polyester, 11% elastane, listed at $48 in heather grey. Vital Seamless is the Gymshark legging. Revive, at $50, is the 5-inch Alphalete high-rise.
- Is Alphalete’s return more generous because you can try compression?
- Even exchanges of the same color include a covered label. A cash refund does not, unless Redo was on the order. Odor, deodorant, and a dryer cycle can be denied.
