ILIA vs Kosas is a mineral-tint decision set against a treatment-foundation decision. ILIA on iliabeauty.com sells Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 in 30 shades, with a 60-day window that allows gently used product and a prepaid label on request. Kosas on kosas.com sells Revealer Skin-Improving Foundation SPF 25 in 36 shades and Revealer Concealer in 38, with free US shipping over $50 and a 30-day window on full-size products from Kosas.com. Choose ILIA when the tint has to be mineral SPF 40 and you want two months to decide, including on a product you have used. Choose Kosas when you want a medium-coverage foundation with mineral SPF 25, or a concealer in a wider shade set, and you will check the sample-versus-full-size rule before you add a gift. StoreAtlas files both as stores on the beauty hub and the clean-beauty tag. This note is not a Best of ranking.
ILIA also sits on the skin-first kits job. Other shopping tasks already filed live on the jobs index. Both brands also live as files in the store directory.
Beauty storefront notes cover both catalogs. How to read a Shopify product page is how you separate a vegan line on one product from beeswax in another. Returns before you buy and reading shipping and returns on Shopify stores are the 60-day versus 30-day read.
What each “clean” page actually promises
ILIA’s about page says clean beauty is where natural and synthetic ingredients meet, chosen on purpose, and that the point is performance and skin. The homepage says every product is cruelty-free and Leaping Bunny certified, and that 1% of Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 sales support reforestation. The skin-tint page adds vegan and cruelty-free, formulated without fragrance, non-comedogenic, safe for sensitive skin, and dermatologist-tested. There is no numbered banned-ingredient list on the about page. The vegan line does not cover the whole catalog. Balmy Tint’s FAQ says the balm is cruelty-free and not vegan, because of ethically sourced beeswax. Limitless Lash’s ingredient list includes beeswax and shea butter. A “vegan” badge on the tint is not a badge on the mascara.
Kosas’ homepage says “100% makeup, 100% skincare,” and the clean page calls the standard Next Level Clean: beyond banned lists, without ingredients that do not feel good or work with skin, with nourishing ingredients at active levels, made for sensitive skin, dermatologist-tested. No specific banned-ingredient list rendered on that clean page. The foundation page is more concrete. It says silicone-free, fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, non-acnegenic, non-comedogenic, non-irritating, dermatologist-tested, and mineral reef-safe SPF. The concealer is described as a skincare-packed clean concealer, non-comedogenic, safe for sensitive skin, hypoallergenic, non-acnegenic, with caffeine, hyaluronic acid, peptides, arnica, and panthenol named and no percentages printed.
Tint, foundation, mascara, concealer
ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 is $48 for 1.0 oz. The page says 30 dewy shades. Product data showed 30 variants and 29 available on the day it was opened, with one shade marked unavailable on the homepage. It is makeup, skincare, and mineral broad-spectrum SPF 40, light to medium coverage. Named actives, without percentages, are niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, plant-based squalane, and allantoin. The formula has no silicone, and the page says separation is normal. Shade can look lighter for about 60 seconds, then settle. Non-comedogenic, no fragrance.
Limitless Lash Mascara is $29, full size 0.27 oz, in After Midnight, a soft black, and Before Dawn, a rich brown, each in full and mini. It lengthens, lifts, and separates, and the page says it resists flaking and smudging for up to 12 hours. The wand is dual-sided. It removes with warm water and is described as safe for sensitive eyes and contact-lens wearers. Ingredients include beeswax, shea, biotin, nettle, and a peptide, with some ingredients marked organic. Do not call this mascara vegan because the tint page uses that word.
Balmy Tint Hydrating Lip Balm is $29, 0.15 oz or 4.4 g, in eight shades. It is a sheer, buildable tinted balm with sea succulent, rosehip oil, and shea, a subtle vanilla scent, and a dewy finish. The FAQ says it is not vegan. It is described as a reformulation of the older tinted lip conditioner, and as hand-poured.
Kosas Revealer Concealer is $32. Product data lists 38 shades. The size line next to the title, on full size, reads 0.18 oz or 5.3 ml. A later spec line on the same page reads 0.20 oz or 6 ml. Both were printed. They were not reconciled. Copy says super creamy, medium coverage, a fresh hydrated finish. A printed consumer study used 20 subjects over 28 days and reports agreement on bare-skin look, lines, and coverage of circles and spots. That is a brand study on the page, not an outside trial.
Revealer Skin-Improving Foundation SPF 25 is $45. Product data lists 36 shades, from very light neutral through rich deep neutral. It is medium coverage, a mineral reef-safe broad-spectrum SPF 25, plus artemisia. Named actives without percentages: hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, peptides, squalane, vitamin B5, arnica, caffeine. The page says it is clinically shown to last up to 8 hours, and that it is silicone-free and fragrance-free. Fill size was not in the description captured. A card number of 38 has appeared near a foundation price. The variant count is 36. Use 36. A tinted face oil did not turn up in site search. The homepage instead lists DreamBeam SPF 40, a mineral sunscreen in 2 shades at $40. That card was not opened as a full PDP, so the tint comparison stays on Revealer.
ILIA’s tint is SPF 40 mineral, 30 shades, $48, 1 oz, light to medium. Kosas’ foundation is SPF 25 mineral, 36 shades, $45, medium coverage, silicone-free. ILIA’s mascara is two shades and contains beeswax. Kosas’ concealer is 38 shades at $32, with two fill weights on one page. The SPF gap is 40 versus 25. The shade gap on complexion is 30 versus 36. The clean gap is a Leaping Bunny catalog with stated non-vegan exceptions, versus a “beyond banned lists” page that does not print the list.
Shipping and the two return windows
ILIA’s skin-tint and Balmy Tint pages say free shipping on orders over $50. The phrasing on the site is “over $50+.” Subscribe-and-save is 10% off and free US shipping. The US country selector includes the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and several EU countries. The fee under $50 was not on the page. The return policy says ILIA will exchange or refund gently used products within 60 days of purchase from iliabeauty.com. There is no restocking fee. A prepaid label is available on request. Refunds go to the original payment within 10 business days of receipt. They reserve the right to refuse misuse. Sale items and partial sets are not refundable or exchangeable. The tint PDP says returns and exchanges are always free. Opened product is allowed when it is gently used. That is a wider wear rule than a sealed-bottle policy.
Kosas’ banner is free shipping on US orders of $50 and up, and free returns. A separate offer is a free Lip Pulse sample at $80. Orders process in 2–3 business days. Domestic USPS First Class is within 5–7 business days. Three-business-day expedited service ships FedEx Home Delivery. Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico: allow 2–4 weeks. International ships with APC, and the final carrier varies. No international free-shipping threshold was printed. An empty-cart line has said you were a few dollars from free shipping, which does not match the $50 banner. Use the $50 policy line. The fee under $50 was not verified.
The Kosas policy refunds or exchanges full-size products from Kosas.com within 30 days of purchase, if you are not satisfied. Samples are final sale. Other final-sale items are marked on the page. Refunds go to the original payment within 10 business days of processing. Retail-partner purchases do not come back to Kosas. Opened makeup is not called final sale. The policy paragraph does not say who pays postage. The banner says free returns. Reading shipping and returns on Shopify stores is the habit of reading the banner and the policy as two texts. ILIA puts the label in the policy: prepaid on request, 60 days, gently used, no sale items. Kosas puts “free returns” in the banner and the 30-day full-size rule in the policy, and leaves the label payer less explicit.
