Platforms
Shopping platforms
StoreAtlas files edited notes on cross-border shopping platforms — not crawls or rankings. Start with Amazon, AliExpress, and Alibaba.com when you need who-each-is-for, caveats, and official links. Prefer a brand DTC storefront when you need warranty or a single-item cart.

Questions
- Should I buy from a marketplace or the brand's own store?
- A marketplace is a demand channel: many sellers, shared search, and return rules the operator partly owns. A brand storefront is a room the merchant furnished — the catalog, the price, and the return window point at the brand. Read whose account holds the order before you pay.
- Is AliExpress the same as Alibaba?
- No. Alibaba.com is a B2B marketplace for bulk and trade orders. AliExpress is its retail sibling for single-item checkout. They share an owner, not a cart.
- Is Amazon the same as a Shopify storefront?
- No. Amazon is a channel with many sellers and shared search. A Shopify storefront is owned by one merchant. StoreAtlas files owned sites as stores and channels as platforms, and scores neither.
- Does StoreAtlas rank platforms?
- No. Notes explain what each platform is for and who it suits. We do not publish star scores or a Top 10.
